Brazil creates 173 thousand jobs, best Feb. result since 2014

Brazil has reported a total of 173,139 new formal jobs last month—the largest positive balance for a February since 2014. The figures were released by the Economy Ministry.
The performance stems from last month’s 1,453,284 issions and 1,280,145 layoffs. Formal employment in the country has reached 38.6 million job posts. Rogério Marinho, the ministry’s special secretary for Social Security and Labor, mentioned “consistent recovery” of employment in Brazil.
“We hope this resumption holds steady in the coming months, especially since the economy has fared well. The number of jobs generated in February shows that the changes proposed—like flexibility, red-tape reduction, a more liberal approach to the economy—bring more confidence to […] the process of bringing issions back up,” he explained.
Salaries
The average salary in February stood at $402 for issions, $433 for layoffs; down 4.13 percent for issions and 0.2 percent for layoffs, inflation deducted.
