Petrobras’ oil and gas production in the first quarter of 2025 rose by 5.4 percent, with average daily output of oil, natural gas liquids (NGLs), and natural gas reaching 2.77 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (MMboe).

According to the company, the increase was mainly driven by fewer losses from maintenance stoppages, improved operational efficiency in the Santos Basin, and the start of production from Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessel Almirante Tamandaré in the Búzios field and the FPSO unit Marechal Duque de Caxias in the Mero field. These gains were partially offset by the natural decline in output.

According to Renata Baruzzi, Petrobras’ Director of Engineering, Technology, and Production, the start-up of the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré is a strategic milestone for the company, marking a sustainable and innovative boost in production from the Búzios field. “In addition to its high capacity—able to produce up to 225,000 barrels of oil and process 12 million cubic meters of gas per day—it is equipped with advanced decarbonization technologies, which enhance efficiency and reduce emissions,” she said.
