Brazil’s World Cup roster announced

Brazil national team coach Luiz Felipe Scolari announced this Wednesday (May 7) during a ceremony in Rio de Janeiro the 23 players who are to represent the country in the 2014 World Cup. Scolari named most of the players from the winning team of the 2013 Confederations Cup. A new name is defender Henrique, who currently plays for Italy’s Napoli.
The World Cup opening ceremony will take place on June 12, in São Paulo, when Brazil’s national team faces Croatia. Matches will be held in 12 host cities. There are altogether 32 teams divided into eight groups. The final is scheduled for July 13 at Maracanã Stadium, in Rio de Janeiro. Over 2.6 million tickets have been sold for 64 games.
