Mandatory to report Zika cases

From today (Feb. 18), suspected cases of Zika virus infection must be mandatorily notified. Authorities' reports shall be weekly.
In the case of pregnant women with suspected Zika virus infection or suspicious death, health professionals must be immediately notified, that is, within 24 hours.
The decision to make it mandatory to notify the authorities has been reached in partnership with states and municipalities, in addition to specialists.
"Health professionals throughout Brazil are becaming aware of the measure through several daily communication channels, like videoconferencing, e-mails, official letters and direct ," noted the ministry.
