President Dilma Rousseff was received Friday (Oct. 9) by Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos. Both presidents will attend the ceremony for g agreements and will make a t statement to the press today.

Before the meeting with the Colombian president, Rousseff met with business leaders in a city's hotel.

After appointments at the Executive branch headquarters, Rousseff will visit the Colombian National Congress, the Supreme Court, and will attend with Santos the closing ceremony of a forum with businessmen from both countries.

With the visit, the Brazilian government intends to expand the business relationship between the countries. The presidency acknowledges that trade and investments between Brazil and Colombia have increased in recent years but they have not fulfilled their full potential.

Colombia has the third largest economy in South America, but occupies only the seventh position as Brazil's trade partner in America. In 2014, bilateral trade totaled $4.1 billion.
