To save time, pro-impeachment senators give up asking questions

During the trial session, pro-impeachment senators talk to prosecutor Janaína Pascoal (in red), one of the authors of the motion to impeach Dilma Rousseff.
In a bid to prevent protracted witness hearings from delaying suspended President Dilma Rousseff's Monday (Aug. 29) testimony, all political parties in favor of impeachment agreed to refrain from asking questions to the five people listed by the defense.
According to Senator Aécio Neves, the lawmakers on the prosecution side will only speak “if an interpolation proves necessary.”
“Everyone is withdrawing their requests for questions as these witnesses have already been heard by the special committee and have the intrinsic objective to procrastinate the session,” he stated.
