After his official trip to Russia, Brazilian President Michel Temer flew to Oslo, Norway, the main country investing in the Amazon Fund, with transfers of approximately $842 million.

Environment is among the topics to be addressed at the meetings with local authorities. Today (Jun 22), the Brazilian president is meeting with Norwegian investors, tomorrow with King Harald V, Prime Minister Erna Solberg, and Parliament Head Olemic Thommessen.

Norway is Brazil's eighth biggest foreign investor, with a prominent tole in the energy sector. Today, 89 initiatives linked to the Amazon Fund are being carried out in such fields as the fight against deforestation, land regulation, and the management of indigenous territories. The Fund is istered by the Brazil's National Economic and Social Development Bank (BNDES).

According to official information, Temer is to seek to expand the commercial ties between Brazil and Norway. Also among the goals is to advance talks on a free trade deal between Mercosur and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), formed by Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland. Temer's return trip to Brasília is scheduled to take place Friday night (23).
