Brazil has 49,900 new cases of COVID-19, 698 deaths in 24h

In 24 hours, 49,863 new cases of COVID-19 and 698 deaths caused by the disease were reported in Brazil. The figures come from the daily update released by the country’s Ministry of Health.

The new deaths computed by health authorities raise the total number of lives claimed by the COVID-19 pandemic to 174,515. There are also 2,164 deaths under investigation.

Since the pandemic broke out in March this year, the number of people infected by the novel coronavirus across the nation has reached 6,436,650. Yesterday, the case tally stood at 6,386,787 on the government’s dashboard.

Also ed were 563,782 patients being monitored. Another 5,698,353 have recovered from the disease.

States

São Paulo (42,456) has the highest number of deaths counted thus far, and is followed by Rio de Janeiro (22,764), Minas Gerais (10.121), Ceará (9,640), and Pernambuco (9,082).

The state with the least deaths from the disease are Acre (727), Roraima (734), Amapá (814), Tocantins (1,170), and Rondônia (1.579).
