Lula is well and continues to rest at presidential residence

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is resting at the Alvorada palace, his official residence, on Tuesday (May 27) after suffering from vertigo and being diagnosed with labyrinthitis. He has canceled his public appointments, but is expected to meet with ministers throughout the day at the palace.
Today, the president was scheduled to meet with the rectors of federal educational institutions and to take part in an event celebrating Diplomats’ Day at the Foreign Ministry. He is to be represented by his ministers and by vice-President Geraldo Alckmin.
On Monday afternoon (26), the president underwent imaging and blood tests at Brasília’s Sírio-Libanês Hospital, and the results were normal. Next, he went to the Alvorada palace.
According to the president’s press office, he has been medicated since yesterday and woke up well today. This morning, the president was examined by his doctor Ana Helena Germoglio, who recommended that he continue to rest, as the symptoms can take 24 to 48 hours to disappear.
This week, President Lula also has engagements scheduled in the states of Pernambuco, Paraíba, and Paraná, to deliver federal projects. His travel schedule is being revised.
